Sharp 2015 TV Lineup

Update: Select 4K UHD Models Now Available!

Sharp Aquos Beyond 4K

Sharp Aquos Beyond 4K UHD TV

Sharp’s Aquos 2015 4K Ultra HD TVs will soon be available. This lineup will include three new series: the UB30, UE30 and UH30, and will be offered in seven screen sizes ranging from 43″ to 80″. These TVs will include the latest 4K specs, including a quad-core processor, H.265 and VP9, which is an all new codec that allows 4K content to play back in its native form.

Even though the UB30 is Sharp’s entry level line for 2015, it doesn’t skimp on features, and naming just a few include: an ultra slim bezel and sleek stand design, a quad-core processor, SmartCentral 3.0 smart TV platform, Revelation Upscaler and local dimming ( 65″ model only). The UB30 has a starting price of $749.99 for the 43″ model.

The UE30 and UH30 series will adopt the Android TV platform. Android TV brings together movies, apps and games from Google Play, as well as helpful features like voice search and the ability to cast content from your mobile device to Sharp televisions.

The UE30 and UH30 will also include SmartCentral 4.0, which enables consumers to browse and search cable, satellite and streaming services from a single screen. SmartCentral 4.0 offers easy-to-navigate settings and device menus with personalized accounts for each family member. In addition, control and navigation can also be handled with ease using  the SmartCentral 4.0 mobile app. This app will allow you to use your tablet or smartphone to browse, search and select content without interrupting what you’re already watching.

The flagship UH30 Series contains THX 4K certification which assures the picture you are viewing is displayed exactly as the director intended. The UH30 also comes equipped with SPECTROS Rich Color Display, which produces more vibrant and diverse color. With more shades of red and green, you experience more realistic landscapes, lush nature scenes and natural skin tones.

I’ve saved the best for last… Sharp’s Beyond 4K Ultra HD TV, is what Sharp claims as the highest resolution TV, and combines Sharp’s proprietary pixel splitting and Quattron technologies, resulting in 66 million subpixels, 42 million more than standard 4K Ultra HD. With more subpixels, this TV delivers 167 percent greater resolution than traditional 4K UHD and begins to approach 8K. Sharp’s next generation Revelation Upscaler  provides video content upscaling for 1080p and 4K UHD sources.

Note: Sharp’s Quattron pixel splitting technology will not produce a native or true 8K image. It instead provides what is called a “higher effective resolution rate” that technically makes the image appear as though it is near 8K quality. For more info on Sharp’s Quattron technology, see this article using 1080p HD resolution as a basis to explain this technology.

Available in an 80″ screen size, this 4K giant uses Sharp’s proprietary SPECTROS Rich Color Display and unique Quattron technology, and claims to provide a billion more shades of color, and will display more color than any Aquos TV before it. This TV also contains High Dynamic Range technology and a full array LED with local dimming to provide extremely deep blacks and brighter whites. Additionally, Sharp states this TV will display more than 100 percent of the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) Color Space.

The Sharp Aquos Beyond 4K Ultra HD TV will be available in late 2015.
