Sony’s 2015 4K Ultra HD TV Lineup

Sony 2015 lineup

Spring time is almost here, and for many electronics consumers and enthusiast, your wait will finally be over – the new 2015 HDTV lineups are about to kick off. In this article I will report on Sony’s 2015 models about to arrive at your local electronics department.

This year, Sony’s 4K Ultra HD TVs will include six new series and 10 new models ranging in size from 43 to 75 inches. This line-up will include some of Sony’s thinnest models yet. The X900C Series measures just 0.2 inches deep at its slimmest point.

All 4K models will include the new 4K Processor X1 which will further enhance color, contrast and clarity. This new processor will also improve streaming quality of 4K content, and provide better upscaling via Sony’s 4K X-Reality Pro.

The top-shelf X940C will feature Sony’s X-extended Dynamic Range Pro (higher dynamic range) and Triluminos color, while the X930C will offer X-extended Dynamic Range and Triluminos color. X-tended Dynamic Range enhances contrast for brighter whites and deeper black level performance. Triluminos technology widens the color range for a more vibrant and accurate color palette.

On the smart TV platform front, all models will include, for the first time, Google’s Android TV operating system for a better smart TV experience. This operating system will make it easy to stream video, function as a gaming device and provide enhanced features like voice-enabled searching through a remote equipped with a microphone.

This year, 4K content will be more readily available as Sony expands access to 4K content through Netflix and Sony’s own Video Unlimited 4K service.

  • Is it too much to ask for is which 2015 Sony HDTV has passive 3D.

    • Hi Don,
I did some research and found this info regarding passive 3D on some of Sony’s 2015 models. The X900C 55″ and 65″ are claimed to use passive 3D. The 75″ X900C is said to use active 3D. The 65″ X930c and 75″ X940C are claimed to use active 3D. The 55″, 65″ and 75″ 850C are said to use active 3D. This info is somewhat limited, put was all I could find at this time. Also, I’m not sure if the source I used is 100% accurate. Hope this info helps.
