Over the past few years Hisense has been improving their television products including better reliability and picture performance, and now has reached a point that I, as well as other industry enthusiasts, can now recommend the Hisense H9F display to anyone looking for great picture performance at a very affordable price point. And furthermore, this Hisense model may very well be the best bang-for-your-buck TV currently available.

Design
The H9F has solid build quality and features a very sleek and stylish design with very thin borders, which for the most part has become the norm for flat-panel TV design. The screen contains a glossy finish which in my opinion allows for better picture quality in the form of transparency and clarity and provides increased picture vibrancy that allows images to pop from the screen.
The TV is very thin on the top half but increases in-depth on the bottom half due to the TV’s electronics being housed in this area.
The TV stand has a very unique design and adds a touch of class to the H9F’s overall appearance. The stand also provides good stability for the panel.

Performance
Pros:
- Excellent contrast and black level performance made possible by the display’s full-array LED backlighting w/ local dimming
- Very good HDR performance
- Good 4K upscaling
- High peak brightness output delivers very good specular highlights when viewing HDR content
- Wide color gamut and quantum dot color technology produce an intense and vibrant color spectrum for a very life-like and accurate color presentation
- Very good motion handling delivers smooth and blur-free fast-action content
- The H9F is a good TV for video gaming and delivers excellent input lag measuring approx. 16.0 ms with 1080p and 4K 60Hz signals
- Overall good black screen uniformity with very minor blooming when viewing white objects against a black background

Cons:
- Lackluster sound quality which is not uncommon for flat-panel TVs
- Picture image degrades when viewed at wide angles – contrast and color saturation loss
- Some slight blooming around bright objects set against a black background
Conclusion
The Hisense H9F delivers premium performance that typically commands a much higher price of admission for the level of performance obtained by this otherwise high-achieving television. My question is what 55″ would you recommend for a dark gaming room that will utilize PS4, PS3, and Xbox 1 systems.
Also, all the TVs seem to have just 1 ARC channel which leaves me confused for setting up with full control while using any machine.

Hi David,
As far as which TV I would recommend for your situation – there are many models that I have reviewed from 2019 that I suggest you check out. Place your focus on any model that has very good contrast and black level performance which will greatly enhance your darkroom viewing. Also, check out the models that have low input lag which I’m sure you already know is good for gaming.
In terms of TVs just having one ARC (Audio Return Channel – The primary use and setup scenarios for ARC involve the ARC output from the TV to be routed to an A/V receiver or soundbar. So technically you only need one ARC. However, in a usual or uncommon setup of having a soundbar and A/V receiver in use at the same time would require two ARC outputs, but that type of setup would be redundant unless you wanted to use the soundbar in circumstances where you did not want the full-blown high fidelity surround sound experience and just wanted a more laid back audio presentation.

Quick thank you for the clear effort in your reviews, have found the very useful and seemingly more believable/trustworthy then other reviewers!
My questions is I’m curious as to whether you would recommend the H9F or the Sony X900. I’m a bit of a gamer and movie goer (in my quest to attain that cinema experience I’ve just purchased the JBL Dolby Atmos able Soundbar).
I know the X900 is better suited to gaming (particularly with the HDMI 2.1 availability) but would the picture quality be better then the H9F or are they comparable? Would the X900 allow for better action movie scenes due to the 120 Hertz 4K ability? Caught on what the better purchase would be! Price is a slight factor as here in Australia the X900 75” is $3,500 though I just got the offer of $3,100 through a friends discount, I believe the H9F is $2,000 comparatively.
Would appreciate any response mate if possible. Thank you either way!

As I mentioned in this post, I did what I call a product profile review which means I didn’t do an actual hands-on review of the H9F. Instead, I did product research and outlined it in this post. With that being said, I can not give you a true comparison assessment on the H9F and X900H. However, from the info I obtained, I’m very confident in saying that the H9F is a very good performer.
As you mentioned the X900H definitely has the edge as a gaming TV with is advanced gaming features. Furthermore, even though the X900H is capable of displaying 4K 120Hz frame rate content, there isn’t any content (movies) available at this time for consumers to enjoy.
As for the X900H, it has very good picture quality and I could live happily with this model. But personally, I don’t know which model I would choose since I haven’t done a hands-on evaluation of the H9F.
