Sony Electronics recently revealed its new flagship Blu-ray player, the UBP-X1100ES. Sony claims this latest model will deliver an unprecedented home cinema experience. The X1100ES is available now with a retail price of $599.99.
What it has to offer…
The UBP-X1100ES is a 4K Blu-ray HDR universal and multimedia player and will handle virtually any optical disc format, including DVD Video and DVD Audio, CD and SA-CD, Blu-ray 3D and BD-ROM media. It also supports playback of the most popular USB video and audio file types, in addition to a host of High-Resolution Audio formats.
The UBP-X1100ES is precision-crafted and embodies the legendary build quality associated with Sony’s coveted ES brand. The player’s Frame and Beam (FB) chassis help to increase structural rigidity; while its honeycomb top plate, heat sync and offset insulator feet reduce the effects of airborne and mechanical vibration. Even the removable rack-mount ears further reduce vibration and electrical noise.
Viewers will enjoy top-notch picture quality while watching movies and TV shows and will be presented with very sharp and refined picture quality revealing the fine detail and clarity that 4K Ultra HD has to offer when this Blu-ray player is connected to a 4K TV.
4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing will greatly enhance your viewing experience by offering expanded contrast range, and peak picture brightness.
Additionally, the UBP-X1100ES HDR capabilities will let viewers experience a wider range of colors such as deeper darks and vibrant rich hues. The X1100ES is compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG HDR formats. This Blu-ray player’s support of the BT.2020 color spaces also means access to an ultra-wide color range, preserving the artist’s intent and delivering much more saturated and realistic color, from deep aquatic blues to natural greens and vibrant reds.
The player’s 4K HDR to SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) conversion improves contrast and color for optimized playback and viewing on non-HDR devices.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X will allow viewers to get the biggest impact out of every movie and soundtrack that is encoded with these formats. With Dolby Atmos 3D and DTS:X object-based surround sound, you’ll feel like you’re right inside the action. People, music and objects move around you with startling clarity in a precisely defined three-dimensional sound space.
The UBP-X1100ES also lets you enjoy all your favorite content in one place. You can now connect seamlessly to any device in your home theater and stream video or music from several compatible services. You can also play your favorite file types via built-in USB support. Furthermore, enjoy fast, stable streaming from popular online services including Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube. The UBP-X1100ES also supports playback of up to 4K video streaming, thanks to robust dual-band MIMO wireless technology for a strong signal – even at the edge of your Wi-Fi network’s range.
Support for High-Resolution (Hi-Res) Audio will take your listening experience beyond MP3 files and even CD quality – letting you hear every breath, every note and every drumbeat. The player’s 32-bit DAC is compatible with native DSD (at up to 11.2 MHz) and LPCM (at up to 192 kHz) Hi-Res music files in a range of different formats.
Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) HX upscales compressed-music files and CDs to “near high-resolution quality.”
This Wi-Fi-enabled player also supports playback of 24-bit high-resolution audio and DSD files up to 11.2 MHz, Dolby TrueHD and DTS 7.1-channel decoding and Dolby Atmos and DTS:X bitstream output.
The UBP-X1100ES supports Bluetooth audio transmission for private listening on wireless headphones while viewing your favorite TV programming.
Simultaneous HDMI and Bluetooth connectivity will enable you to send audio via HDMI to your TV or soundbar while transmitting it simultaneously to a wireless speaker or headphones over Bluetooth.
Stream and listen to music in every room anywhere throughout your home. Multi-room listening lets you group selected Sony soundbars and speakers together to enjoy music streaming in multiple rooms.
