Sony Adds Five 4K HDR UHD Displays to Their Premium XBR Lineup

By now many of you have probably heard of Sony’s latest 4K Ultra HD TVs that were released this past summer. These new models were added to their current 2016 lineup, and are less expensive alternatives for anyone seeking one of Sony’s premium XBR televisions.

These entry-level models consist of the XBR-800D, XBR-750D and XBR-700D series:

The XBR-800D series features include:

  • HDR (High Dynamic Range) capability for increased contrast with a greater range of peak brightness (highlights) and black levels, in addition to better picture detail and more vibrant colors
  • Edge-lit LED backlighting
  • 10-bit panel displays more colors with finer steps of gradation for greater color reproduction with HDR sources
  • Wide color gamut for better color reproduction with HDR sources
  • IPS Panel (49″ model only) – provides very good off-axis (wide angle) viewing
  • TRILUMINOS Display – for enhanced color reproduction
  • 4K X-Reality Pro – enhances picture quality
  • 4K upscaling – converts non-4 K sources including 1080p to near 4K quality
  • Motionflow XR 240 for motion blur control – native refresh rate is 60Hz
  • Android TV OS with Google Play smart TV platform
  • DIRECTV 4K Ready – DIRECTV subscribers with the Genie Whole-Home HD DVR can enjoy 4K service and full DVR features without an additional receiver
  • Netflix Recommended TV – This certification makes it easier for consumers to know which manufacturers HDTVs work best with its streaming video service
  • 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct capability

The XBR-750D and XBR-700D series features include:

Note: The 750D and 700D models received a firmware update in September to enable HDR capability.

  • 4K X-Reality Pro – enhances picture quality

  • Motionflow XR 960 (750D only) for motion blur control – native refresh rate is 120Hz
  • Motionflow XR 240 for motion blur control – native refresh rate is 60Hz
  • Android TV OS with Google Play smart TV platform
  • DIRECTV 4K Ready – DIRECTV subscribers with the Genie Whole-Home HD DVR can enjoy 4K service and full DVR features without an additional receiver
  • Netflix Recommended TV – This certification makes it easier for consumers to know which manufacturers HDTVs work best with its streaming video service

The 800 series contains a remote control with a built-in mic for voice recognition to control select Android TV functions. The 750 and 700 series remotes do not have this feature.
