I’ve been following and reviewing TCL TVs for the past several years, and what I’ve discovered is the quality improvements with their displays – in particular picture quality – has become much better over the years, while their pricing has remained very affordable. Lasts years 6-Series set a good example for this trend; this lineup was very popular with consumers and received good industry reviews while achieving very good performance.

The Next Resolution Transition
4K TVs have been around since 2012 and have now established themselves as the premier TV technology. However, looking back to when 4K TVs were first launched, this new tech didn’t take off like a rocket with consumers; it actually took quite some time to establish their current dominance in the television market.
At this year’s CES show in Las Vegas, 8K is really starting to make its presence known by television manufacturers, and one of them is Sony.
Apple usually doesn’t make an appearance at CES and this year is no different as they are not officially at this year’s CES show in Las Vegas; however, they are still making their presence known by teaming up with several major TV manufacturers including Samsung, Sony, LG and Vizio; the big news is these manufacturers will be integrating Apple’s AirPlay 2 and HomeKit* services into their upcoming 2019 TV lineups.
TCL is a budget brand TV manufacturer that offers affordable TVs with good and very good performance. TCL’s latest 6-Series is their premium based lineup and falls into the “very good” category for the level of performance and features it offers at its price point.
Vizio’s P-Series has been a stand-out performer with their 4K TV lineup’s over the past few years, and with each model year, Vizio has continued to improve on this ever popular series and is poised to deliver the best P-Series yet with this year’s 2018 lineup.
LG’s premium models for the US market are arriving at your local and online retailers. For 2018, LG will offer nine OLED models and seven Super UHD LED models. The OLED displays will consist of the W8, E8, C8 and B8 series, while the Super UHD models will offer the SK9500, SK9000 and SK8000 series.

Sony hasn’t released much for this year’s 4K TV lineup and only has three new models currently available. These new displays consists of the A8F (A8F Series), X900F (XBR X900F Series) and X850F (XBR X850F Series).

Samsung recently had its official unveiling of its new 2018 TV product lineup. This year’s models will be spread across 9 series and feature the flagship QLED TV models and an expanded lineup of UHD, Premium UHD and Ultra-Large Screen TVs.
As expected 2017 was a good year for the continued growth and popularity of 4K Ultra HD TVs. And with a new year upon us, it time for me to reflect on my favorite models from last year.
